Jazz's Rainbow Residency

Memories of Jazz

Dear God,

Jazz is one of the best dogs you'll ever have in Heaven. She LOVES to walk around. And tell her to say hi to Zeus! They used to be home dogs! Now they can be Heaven Dogs! I will pray to them every night! God can you make sure they live in the same house? My friend's dogs are up there and my friend's mom wants Jazz to say hi to them. My dad just told me that your name spelled backwards is Dog. And you know what? Dogs are man's best friend. And Jazz was my best friend.

Love,
Brooke Caroline Redding

We all loved Jazz very much. She was born in 1995, two years before our first child. I picked her out of her litter. She was so cute with her dark black eyes and ears. She came to live with me and my husband and she was our baby. She went everywhere with us. We lived in Orange County and drove down to San Diego to visit my parents often, and Jazz always accompanied us. :-) She was a good dog.

After our son Tommy was born, we went to live in Cleveland and Jazz went to live with our parents in San Diego. I should mention, Jazz did not like inclement weather. She refused to go outside when it rained, so we thought that moving her across the country and to a climate much colder and wetter at times than what she was used to probably wasn't the best idea. Especially since my parents offered to take her in and we had always spent so much time there. She loved being in my parent's house and she got along great with their toy fox terrier, Buster.

We lived in Cleveland for a year and a half and then moved to Indianapolis where our daughter Brooke was born. We lived in Indianapolis for two years and we often traveled back to San Diego to see our family, and of course Jazz. It was always nice to spend time with her during our visits.

We moved to Florida in 2001, thinking we would only be there for 6 months to a year before we returned to San Diego. Well a year stretched in to two, and finally we decided that Florida was where we were going to make our permanent home. We talked our parents into moving out with us in 2004 and my brother and his wife bought my parent's house and they "inherited" Jazz. They had two dogs also, and Jazz and their dogs enjoyed living there. When we finally bought our own permanent home and were settled in Florida, we decided that we would love Jazz to be back with us and we sent for her. We were worried at first that Jazz wouldn't like all the summer storms, but she got over it. The sound of the thunderstorms sometimes frightened her but, in time, as her hearing went, it didn't bother her anymore. She loved to go on walks with my mom and her dog, and she loved to curl in front of us in her favorite spot in front of the couch.

We all loved Jazz and she was a very good dog. She celebrated her 15th birthday in October. Since then, her health has been declining and finally she got to a point where she could barely even walk. We made the very difficult and painful decision to have Jazz "go to sleep" and join all the other beloved pets over in Rainbow Bridge. We miss you so much Jazzy!!! We know you are out of pain and in a better place. We will always love you and you will always be a very big part of our lives. Thank you for your love all of these years. We will miss you forever.

Love,
Shanda, Charles, Tommy, Brooke, Amma & Ampa
