The day that I first saw you You were cute as you could be My heart knew from that moment That you were meant for me. You were just a tiny puppy Your manners were a fright! Shoes became your favorite toy I hid them all from sight! I had to find a name for you From those inside my head. But every time I looked at you All I could see was Fred. You loved to travel with me You'd wait beside the door As if I would have left you! It would have been a bore! When I was sick and lonely And curled up in my bed I'd feel you right beside me And I'd be well instead. I prayed I'd never lose you How could I ever let you go? But all too soon the angels came... Now tears are all I know. I pray the Lord will keep you safe Until my life is through... And fill all my tomorrows With yesterday...and you! Goodnight, my sweet angel ... Until the morning comes!
