Memories of Coco Puff

3/2:Coco loved his walks and in the last year he couldn't walk outside anymore because of his bad hips and failing eyesight so he began doing walks throughout the house. One day while we were gone he got a little confused and walked trough the middle of one of our end tables. When Joanie got home Coco was in the hall with his blanket under him and the end table around him. He hadn't even broken the lamp but he sure did need some attention that night a a nice long massage.

3/10:It has now been one week since I said goodbye to my best buddy. It still hurts a lot but I know he isn't hurting anymore and is happy to be back with his Mommy Jasmine and the rest of his litter mates. It is amazing how my life was impacted by Coco and how lonely the mornings seem without him around. Praise the Lord that He is my comfort and will change my mourning into dancing for joy. Both Joanie and I have decided to get another Furry Family Member because we still have a lot of love to share with some dog that needs a permanent home.

3/12: I got Cocos ashes back today. The snow has melted enough for me to put them in his two favorite spots in our yard; the back tree line and the front cluster of trees.

3/19: I am not sure why but I find myself missing him today more than I have in the past two weeks. It is going to take a long time before mornings are not lonely anymore.

4/13: Easter was our first holiday without Coco and I sure did miss him begging for the leftovers and the time together. Today we just adopted a rescue dog. We decided to not go with another Basset but to get a smaller dog. I pray that we will have as much and as long of a time of joy with this new furry family member as we had with our beloved Coco.

4/30: Well today we get a new furry family member. We rescued her through a shelter in Missouri. She is not a Basset but ironically has the same name of Cocopuff. We feel it is meant to be. This Cocopuff will always have a big piece of my heart but I believe God has given us a chance to add some more love to our family and some day we can all play together at the Savior's feet.

8/7/2010: Well, the New Cocopuff was a great little girl but we were not the ones God planned for her. About a month ago a family I work with had their dog meet a very sad and untimely accidental death. They had three little girls. They were looking for a dog just like our new Cocopuff and they all fell quickly in love with each other. I still see her about once a week but she was meant for them. It will be very hard to replace you.

10/11/10: We have a new Basset boy named Stevie. We have been a blessing to each other. He came from a very abusive first two years of life to us. We needed a dog that wanted to be loved. we both received what we are looking for. I'm glad he is very different from Coco, because he has his own character, and boy is he ever a character. I now have a new basset that loves his belly rubs and jumping on my lap and going for long walks. He is not the talker Coco was but God has given us a very affectionate young boy to share our home with and given him a new life that offers a safe, healthy and loving home.

1/4/2011: The new year is here and our boys have been introduced to the new basset boy, Stevie. He has filled the emptiness in our hearts that was left when you, Coco, went to the Rainbow Bridge. I can never forget you and the amazing years we had together but it is now time to focus on Stevie. I will have a great time when I come to the rainbow bridge and am greeted by all of you great past furry buddies. I thank God that he has allowed me a new furry friend and that you, Coco, can now play freely with Jasmine and the others at the bridge, knowing that I am being loved as only a basset can do down here.

2/27/1: Well buddy it will have been a year this week since you went to the Rainbow bridge. You will always be a big part of me and I could never forget the special friend you have been throughout the years. We now have Stevie, who has won another place in our hearts. Your page will expire this week but you will never be forgotten. It may be that Joanie arrives at the bridge before I do, I pray things will change but if she does greet her with the same love you showed us throughout the years. Good Bye for now Jim

1/17/12: Well there Coco it appears you and mommy Jasmine have been able to greet our Joanie as she crossed the bridge to eternal life. I never thought I would be writing this. I have another furry friend down here now. I know you and Stevie will be great playmates someday and Joanie will be able to introduce the two of you. You keep my Joanie good company until the day I come and join all of you.
